"It doesn't feel like you have privacy"

About: Royal Manchester Children's Hospital

(as the patient),

Wherever you are in the hospital, it feels like everyone can see everyone else. It's all glass, and it doesn't feel like you have much privacy.

Sometimes you're waiting so long in the queue that you end up being late for your appointment even though you arrived on time.

The doctors and nurses are all really nice, very friendly. They're very used to children and they'll lower the way they speak to be on the right level for children.

Parking is a nightmare! It takes so long to get here and get home because it's in central Manchester. I much preferred being able to get to Pendleberry or Booth Hall.

There's nothing cosy about this hospital, it's just too big.

Thank you for your comments.

We do take on board what you are saying about there being glass everywhere - we built the hospital like this to make it bright and interesting and to allow lots of light in. All the clinic rooms, or space that we use to examine patients have curtains to cover any windows as privacy is very clearly a priority.

It's good that you like the doctors and nurses and feel that they are friendly - they were very pleased to hear this! We understand that Central Manchester is a bit further away, but hopefully you will find that the new hospital provides much better facilities and is much nicer than the two old hospital sites.

Thanks again.
