"Poor experience of Urology"

About: East Surrey Hospital / Urology

(as a service user),

Nurses are impossible to contact by phone, left many messages on answer machine for weeks but nobody has even tried to contact me at all. Finally switchboard  put me through to the ward but the nurse who answered the phone was quite abrupt and had a very negative attitude, they hardly let me explain my situation and quickly put me through another nurse who had the same unhelpful and defensive attitude saying that somebody else will call me the next day to discuss my situation. I seriously doubt that it will ever happen!!.

My Urology consultant referred me to them last March 2017 for a urodynamic test but I still waiting. Apparently there is only one nurse that carries out this test.

I can not believe that such as busy department/speciality as Urology has as such as very limited  availability for a basic test. If East Surrey hospital is not able to cope with patient's needs for this basic/ mandatory type of Urology  test, patients should be offered alternative appointments at other near hospitals where the service is provided regularly.

Dear Stick leg,

We are really sorry to read of your poor experience within our urology department.

We currently have 1 nurse trained and one training within our urology department to carry out Urodynamics. We are very happy to look into why you have not yet been seen and or received back a call from the Specialist team.

If you wish us to do this please can you contact us on claire.parsons@sash.nhs.uk or lynda.filby@sash.nhs.uk.

Many thanks

Lynda Filby
