About: University Hospital Lewisham

What I liked

I was at the hospital for 6 hours for a liver biopsy. I was looked after continuously by one fabulous nurse who put me at my ease and really looked after me. The doctor who did the procedure explained everything, was friendly and chatty which removed most of the 'fear' factor. All went without a hitch and with very little discomfort. All the staff I met could not have been better. This is my second visit, I had a colonoscopy 10 months ago and that too went without a hitch and, again, I could not have been looked after or treated better.

I don't know about the rest of the hospital but the Riverside part is first class.

What could be improved

There was an hour's delay at the start; it would have been nice if somebody had come along to confirm they knew I was there and explain that there was a slight delay.

Anything else?

I hope the trust appreciate the good work their staff are doing. The nurses have a lot to do but every one I have met has been smiling, courteous and helpful. The doctors go to a lot of trouble to explain everything and put one at ease.
