"I visited QVH's Peanut Ward on the 26th..."

What I liked

I visited QVH's Peanut Ward on the 26th October this year, I'm not exactly a child anymore being 16 and the nurses where accomodating to the fact that I was older than most others, and gave me many alternatives of what I could do in order to kill time during my wait before the OP.

Being in a Childs ward the beds were only small and all 6ft5" of me struggled to fit in any ordinary bed. I liked that fact that the nurses went and got an adult bed for me despite being in their busiest period ever.

The nurses are the nicest people around, being able to happily have a talk with them and them not being patronising and happy to look after me was really nice. In the main ward, during recovery and when I was being examined pre-op they were all genuinely nice people.

It was my first Operation and to be honest it was a pretty pleasent experiance.

What could be improved

As I was the oldest I had the longest wait untill I went under, but you were in the busiest period ever so I fully understand and I was much more comfortable waiting than any other younger patient.

Anything else?

Before I left I had to eat something so I asked whether the ice cream was nice or not, the reply: "It's like Hagendaz just in a different pot" and that is what I remember from my visit.

And a special thank to all the staff in the ward and indeed in the hospital from the moment we walked in were lovely people, kind and caring during the busiest time ever on the ward. Our time spent in the hospital was as relaxed as it could be and medical staff explained everything that was happening/going to happen. We were in the best hands possible and I was very grateful of that.
