"Care for a broken arm and fractured pelvis at QMC"

Having fallen down the stairs - my fault admittedly - the paramedics quickly arrived.

However what was diagnosed as a dislocated shoulder proved to be wrong. Unable to move, due to extreme pain in my groin, one leg trouser was cut off as well as half my t shirt {this was the state i went in to the operating theatre two days later, no wash shave clean of teeth etc}.

However a helpful male nurse insisted on changing my bed sheets although extremely painful because it had to be done. I find this dubious due to my lack of personal hygiene.

So on to operating day. Visited by several nurses to see if I filled the necessary forms, informed them no. Saw a surgeon/doctor who explained into his dictaphone what was going to happen - at no point did he tell me. I saw the top dog for about 30 seconds.

Prior to my op on broken arm [pelvis painful but unoperable] i was assured that there was no nerve damage so half the battle was won. Off to the operating theatre where the very nice people assured me that i would have a lot of pain when i woke up so they took the very caring step of totally numbing my arm. Thank you.

No pain after the op but informed the next day in a really cavalier fashion that i would not to be able to use my hand 6 to 9 months later. 3 months later arm is dodgy and hand useless. I do feel I've been let down especially by the level of caring and the level of skill.
