"Blood Room Glenfield Hospital"

About: Glenfield Hospital

I am writing about the horrendous way my partner was treated today in the Blood Room.

obviously nothing has changed in my opinion. I think in actual fact this will now be my third or fourth Review about this.

My partner attended for a blood test this morning.

They asked him to sit down and then got a needle out and showed him the needle.

They then said to him ‘that's no good, the needle’s bent’.

They disposed of that one and then got another.

They put this in his right arm and then said ‘this isn’t working, I’ll get one with a black plunger’. A total this point there’s now blood running down his arm from the inserted needle.

The member of staff then used the needle with the black plunger and told my partner that that wasn’t working either. They then said ‘ooh hang on we’re getting a little bit out now, we’ll carry on’. His arm was already hurting from the first needle as they had moved it around and then agony from the second as they were trying to get the blood.

This seemed to go on for a long time and then they took it out of his arm and told him ‘this isn’t good, look at all the mess it’s made’ as the person mopping up the blood on the arm rest and the chair.

They then said they were sorry and consulted with their colleague saying that is was strange.

Theirr colleague agreed and said they didn’t understand it.

Is this acceptable in your personal and professional opinion?

I am totally baffled as to why A) these staff members feel the need to go into graphic detail and B) why this keeps happening!

I await a satisfactory response otherwise I will make a formal complaint.

My partner can’t use his arm properly this afternoon now as he is so sore and bruised.

Is this not a caring profession anymore?
