"I was cared for on the gynaecology ward..."

About: Royal Shrewsbury Hospital

What I liked

I was cared for on the gynaecology ward and the nurses were excellent.

What could be improved

The toilets were filthy. After being there over 24 hours the ladies' sanitary bin remained full with bags containing used sanitary wear piled up on top. The shower cubicle was grimy with marks where shampoo bottles etc. had been clearly visible in the dirt. One of the toilets was splattered with faeces and the other was splattered with blood.

At the dining table things did not improve as there was a long hair in the mashed potato.

Anything else?

I have nothing but praise for the overworked and obviously under stress nursing staff. The cleaning regime and kitchen hygeine is obviously sadly lacking.
