I arrived at MAU after having a chest infection for almost 3 weeks and it had developed into pneumonia, I was in a lot of pain and needed IV antibiotics.
Due to spending a long time in hospital previously seriously unwell I am terrified of needles, I get very anxious when I have to have cannulas and thing put in and it was no different this time. However the staff were extremely patient with me and the nurse Maggie who looked after me was amazing. She put me at ease and talked me through everything, and it can't have been easy for her when there was a lot of pressure on her. I really can't thank her enough. The doctor on duty was also very reassuring and helpful.
I was admitted and taken to ward 3 Amru and onto Lomond ward where was discharged from and again every nurse, healthcare assistant, doctor, every member of staff was extremely helpful and caring. Especially when I was quite upset that I couldn't get home to my 19 month old little girl.
It's such a shame the way things are at this hospital now but I'm just glad I could be treated here and I can go on to recover at home. The staff do an amazing job and I hope that's recognised! We really need the vale hospital!
