As a current in-patient who has access to the Internet (but shouldn't), I just want to say that the majority of staff here are the hardest workers, caring and friendliest I have come across. Not knowing, trusting or feeling safe due to illness - most of the staff made this feeling a little easier.
I would just say that you learn to trust, feel safe with some staff more than others, which are generally the Nursing Assistants as they are more hands on. I just wish that you are not only assigned a Key Worker on admittance to help you, but someone who actually turns up and speaks to you which is what the nursing assistants do more so than your "keyworker". The nursing assistants are always around (and if too busy to talk, will make time when possible).
I don't think the Nursing Assistants get as much praise as they deserve (or pay) and from observations, Dr's or Seniors do not really notice them, speak or give them credit where due.
I wish I had real friends like these Nursing Assistants as they are funny, do not ignore you and allow you to speak or have your say and actually care!
So, it's not as bad as people say about being an in-patient in here. Time to go before getting caught on da Internet!
"Nursing assistants are funny and friendly and care"
