What I liked
The staff were invariably pleasant which is surprising considering that morale is very poor at this hospital.
What could be improved
Just about everything. I was there with my husband following a RTC and I had absolutely no confidence in the staff's capabilities. My husband was not examined properly despite have been in a roll-over accident and only when he arrived home did I notice various cuts and a huge bump on his head, none of which had been assessed. His leg was not examined despite a tear in his trousers and his ankle was badly swollen and bruised but had never been looked at. In a number of instances the staff seemed barely trained and asked over and over again what drugs he was on despite writing it on his notes. Despite the fact that they knew he was taking very strong painkillers for a pre-existing condition and his dose was long overdue he was not given any pain relief until he was absolutely desperate and had requested it a number of times. This is the second time I have had experience of A&E at this hospital and I can only say the prospect of a third is terrifying. I think there are a number of people in this department in need of some serious training and supervision.
