My 80 yr old father was found by my mother at 1:00am in the morning collapsed in the hallway of their home on Monday 27th Sept 2010, she dialled 999 and an ambulance came and took him to the Northern General Hospital, she is 79 yrs old, has had several strokes and walks with a stick. she went to bed and 4 hours later at 5.45am the ambulance staff brought him back home, knocked on the door and just said here you are and left my mum to get him inside on her own, no explanation or anything!!.

I live in Jersey and caught a flight next day and he was again admitted by an occupational therapist (wh as he had had a stroke we were at the hospital until 12.30 wednesday morning dueing our wait we saw various 'hoodies' messing around in the corridors of the hospital and more of them racing around the car park in wheelchairs.

He was eventually admitted to the MAU 1 and the nursing staff did not give a jot about the patients, the person in the next bed who was in their 90s was asking for a 'bottle' as they needed to go to the toilet and half an hour later they were still asking! They left this poor person to feed themself, which they were clearly unable to do as their hands were shaking, they asked for help but it fell on deaf ears so I left my own father and fed this poor person or they wouldn't have had anything to eat. I couldn't get no information from anyone, couldn't get to see the doctor the stock answers were 'I don't know' or I wasn't on duty then'. When he was told he could go home two days later the hospital phoned and asked for us to pick him up at lunchtime but forgot to mention that there would be a 2/3 hour delay from the pharmacy to deliver him medication and then he had to have a scan, so from lunchtime we eventually took him home about 5pm. No aftercare was mentioned and no follow up appointment was given. I am absolutely disgusted with the Northern General Hospital and the Ambulance service.
