I recently had a call back following a routine mammogram and was sent an appointment to attend Kings for further investigation.
Right from my first appointment at the breast care unit I felt I was in the best hands. I was given a mammogram, ultra sound and core biopsy.
I got my results the following weeks (I had a small cancerous lump) when I met my surgeon who explained what needed to be done. A lumpectomy and a few lymph nodes removed to ensure the cancer had not reached them. Over the following few weeks I had appointments with a breast care nurse and a physiotherapist and pre-assessment nurse all of whom were really professional and very understanding.
Explaining everything to a nervous patient who wanted as much information as possible.
On the day of my operation everything went smoothly and the staff in the day surgery ward were very efficient and friendly ensuring you were ok at all times.
There was also a follow up with the physio in a small group session to go through any problems we could encounter and how to deal with them.
I could not have asked for better treatment.
