"Antenatal day assessment unit"

About: Royal Gwent Hospital / Maternity care

(as a service user),

The ladies patients / public toilets in the antenatal day assessment unit are absolutely disgusting.

There are three cubicles in total. One has been 'out of order' for the last 5 weeks, another has been blocked for the last 5 weeks (although accessible but overflows when flushed) and on visiting this week, the remaining cubicle had a huge puddle of seemingly urine on the floor and seat.

This situation is, in my opinion, totally hazardous from a health and safety point of view, let alone extremely unpleasant.

Has the hospital informed the Health and Safety Executive? What a poor impression of the hospital expectant mothers and visitors are given!

What on earth are facilities like on the labour wards?

Is it safe to stay in the hospital and give birth there if this situation is ongoing?

Clean, hygienic and safe facilities are a necessity not a luxury)for pre and post delivery patients and newborns. This is disgraceful.
