On 24th October my partner and I came into Andover birthing centre for an emergency check up with the fear that there was something wrong with our baby and it’s heartbeat. Our initial appointment was with a student midwife who was very calm and collected with a friendly approach. They couldn’t find the heart beat so another midwife tried and also couldn’t find it. Although we became distressed, they continued to stay calm and arranged for a quick check up scan. They reassured both me and my partner and did not put any form of doubt that there was a problem into our mind. They escorted us down and stayed with us for the scan. We found this very comforting and to our relief our baby was happy with a strong beat. We finished our appointment with them, where we did some routine checks and then went on to continue with our day. I felt that although we were both distressed the student midwife was professional, friendly and tried to keep us both relaxed. We would both like to thank them for making our experience as easy and stress free as they possibly could.
