"Removal of acupuncture from painclinic services"

About: Stracathro Hospital / Pain management

(as the patient),

I have received acupuncture for many years for various ailments. The staff were excellent, friendly and most informative.

I was most disappointed to be informed that this service is no longer available, is there any possibility that this might be reinstated. I find taking painkillers affects my stomach and mostly do not agree with me. Whereas the acupuncture is longer lasting and no side effects.

I am sorry you feel that the removal of Acupuncture as a long term treatment option by the Specialist Pain Service will detrimentally affect you in the ways that you describe, and appreciate that you have taken time to inform us of your concerns. As per the correspondence informing you of the change, I would strongly encourage you to contact the Specialist Pain Service on 01382 425612, to discuss options regarding your ongoing pain management.

Kind regards.

Wendy Croll, Clinical Services Manager
