"I feel very fortunate"

About: Ealing Community Partners - Community Psychological and Mental Health Services / Primary Care Mental Health Service (Ealing)

(as the patient),

I had anxiety and depression for about eight months. I was referred by my GP to consultant pyschiatrist Dr Cherian (WLMHT/Primary Care) earlier this year.

I found the Dr Cherian to be very supportive, reassuring and understanding. She took time to explore, explain and adjust my treatment plans according to my needs, wishes and personal insights. She also made sure I was aware of the Single Point of Access Service provided by WLMHT/Primary care which made me feel safe when I had changes to my treatment plan. She also referred me to IAPT (Ealing) for CBT which I was able to access without delay.

I was recently discharged from the WLMHT/Primary Care with no further treatment.

I feel very fortunate that these services were available without delay when I was really unwell. I credit my recovery to the personalised manner in which my care was given.

I believe it is imperative that these supportive services are available in the community in order for individuals to make a relatively ‘good and quick’ recovery, and lead fulfilling and satisfied lives.
This approach I feel is more cost effective for society.
