"Poor communication"

About: Winchester and Eastleigh Healthcare NHS Trust

(as a relative),

My partner was admitted for day surgery. The communication was poor. Information that we received about his treatment was incorrect and no one seemed to know what was happening (overnight stay or discharge), depending on who you spoke to the story changed.

The allocated nurse did not seem to know what was happening, questions were answered and later (once they had checked with colleagues) changed or confirmed which does not fill my boots with confidence that they actually knew what they were talking about. Why can't people just admit that they are not sure and they'll check with a colleague?

Post operative vital sign checks only took place once (directly on return to the ward) and when challenged this was not seen as a problem - taking in consideration that my partner had surgery and treatment with mithomycin C following surgery on the ward.

The nurse who administered the mithomycin C seemed unsure on how to administer as the packaging was different which they expressed to my partner and as you can imagine this does not increase confidence.
