"The views of CEO and Chief Nurse not a reality"

About: Fairfield General Hospital / Cardiology

I recently read an article about improvements, in the Manchester Evening News ,with direct quotes from the CEO and the Chief Nurse which say that staff do hourly checks and ask a number of questions like are you in pain etc.. I witnessed that staff go around and log in a chart but there was no conversation with patients. This was observed on a number of wards in Fairfield Hospital Bury and they did the same on each ward completed a tick box. This is very different from what the Chief nurse believes is happening.

Thank you for sharing your observations.

I was sorry to learn you had witnessed practices that had not met the high standards set out for our staff.

We take your concerns extremely serious and I would urge you to contact our Patient Advice and Liaison Service (PALS) at your earliest opportunity on telephone 0161 604 5897, or email pals@pat.nhs.uk quoting that you have been advised to do so via NHS Choices, so we can discuss and address the matters expressed in your posting.

Regards,

Head of Patient Experience
