"Eye hospital exceeded my expectations"

After having visited the eye clinic with both my elderly parents on numerous occasions and being left with a very low opinion of the eye hospitals services and efficiency I was astounded at the treatment I received myself following an urgent referral by an optician. The A & E had treated me the day previously and I was instructed to find myself an optician for tests as the eye hospital was too busy to see me. The information I received from them was next to none and I subsequently struggled to get an opticians appointment. After contacting 12 opticians I got an appointment the following day, the service from them excellent. They diagnosed a retinal tear, rang the eye hospital who agreed to see me straight away. Within a couple of hours I had received laser treatment in the outpatients department. The treatment by all involved was caring, polite and professional. After two further follow up appointments I was told I needed to be admitted to the day surgery unit for further surgery. I was seen the following morning. The staff couldn't have done more, despite my nerves over the procedure they literally held my hand throughout. The care of the staff was exceptional. The department was spotless, staff kind, answering all my concerns and questions. I cannot recommend them enough. My subsequent follow up appointment was again without fault. I was even seen before my appointment time. Thanks to all concerned.
