"Cervical fusion September 2017"

About: Wansbeck Hospital / Trauma and orthopaedics

Cervical fusion September 2017- I was admitted to ward 15 at 11.30am, to be advised that I was to be first on the surgical list. Every process went really smoothly, and all staff involved including admin to Surgeon/ Anaesthetist treated me with the utmost care and respect. The hospital was exceptionally clean and all staff seemed not to be rushed and happy in their work. This goes a long way to make nervous patients feel safe and secure.

The Surgeon is highly respected and proficient and visited me at 8pm after my surgery. I spent one night in HDU and my nurse was amazing. Unfortunately I kept the nurse busy overnight as I suffered a lot of pain, but the nurse was patient and caring at all times. The hospital should be very proud of the nurse.

I was moved to the base ward the next morning. Again all staff from domestic to nurses were caring and could not do enough for me. Another special mention is required for Staff Nurse who involved me in all decisions regarding my analgesics.

On discharge I was advised that I could telephone the ward at any time, if I had any concerns regarding my health.

I would highly recommend this hospital to anyone in Northumberland and advise that if you are feeling nervous regarding your treatment, you will be reassured immediately by all staff.

Dear Karen,

It was just so lovely to read your review and I’m really grateful that you have taken the time to share it. It is always a pleasure to read about the positive experiences our patients have had, and I am delighted to hear that our staff were able to provide you with the care and reassurance that you needed during your time with us.

I will be sure to share your kind and thoughtful words with the team involved in your care, it is so important for them to be able to see the positive impact that they have had on their patients and it will be a lovely start to their weekend.

I do hope you are recovering well from your surgery.

Best wishes,

Jessica
