"My 95 year old Nan was transferred here..."

My 95 year old Nan was transferred here after having a fall at home, when she arrived she was walking, was continent, was very lucid and was eating reasonably well. Within 2 days of her being here, she was immobile due to not recieving enough "rehab" and therefore became incontinent, Had breathing difficulties requiring her to need oxygen ( but never had her call bell to call anybody if she felt unable to breathe!!) The nurses were rude to her or just never bothered to speak to her and at times confused her with another patient with was very worrying as my nan was on special diets and medication. We told the person concerned she had the wrong person and she replied "Makes no difference, they are all the same!!!" Disgusting!!! She lost her appitite and when she did feel like eating just had her dinner taken away from her halfway through a spoonful and when she asked for an pudding, she was refused it, being told she didnt want it earlier so it was thrown in the bin and there was nothing else for her to have!!!! Nurses and doctors on numerous occasions told us wrong information and different information to family members! People were calling for help but yet there were nurses leaning against the wall playing with their nails which makes us wonder was this happening when my nan was struggling to breathe.

I could go on!!

All in all, we were absolutely appalled at the way my kind, loving nan was treated in her last few weeks. Sadly my Nan passes away after being discovered at 9.00 when the doctor came on duty and found her struggling for her breath.

This has been a very distressing time for all her family
