"No care"

About: The North Leeds Medical Practice

Had booked the appointment a week over the phone only to be told on the day of the appointment there is nothing there - one of many occasions where this has happened.

There is misscommunication between staff and reception where the docs and nurses tell you to do obe thing and the reception tells you another e.g. was told to come in at 10 to the surgery for a vaccination as it is done by triage only by a nurse - waited for an hour only to be told the appointment has to be booked.

There is always shortage of jabs and vaccinations and you are told to get checked by pharmacy for everything clearly avoiding to talk to patients. Recently encountered one doctor who was unwilling to listen even as they kept talking over me making it sound like I was creating the problem and that my time was unimportant as if i wanted to be seen just for the sake of it...made me feel very depressed and vulnerable as i feel that you are treated as you are treated another 2 mins of their time that they have to tick off the checklist rather than a person let alone a patient.

Like so many other reviews have mentioned which frankly speaking am not surprised by - more money and thought especially is being spent on the color of the furniture in the surgery rather than serving the purpose of care of their patients..i normally dont leave reviews but took time out especially so others may benefit from it.

Dear Anonymous

I am sorry that you have had cause to feedback through the website rather than contact the surgery. I can only apologise if you have booked an appointment by telephone but it has failed to materialise on the appointments system. This is not normally the case (as we book in excess of 4,00 GP and Nurse appointments per month) and will look into the system audit to see if there is a problem. You could take control of your appointments by using our online system 'System Online' and book, amend or cancel your appointments thereby negating a call to reception, saving you time and any potential communications errors.

I am somewhat confused by your statement on vaccinations and Nurse Triage. Firstly we do not run a Nurse Triage system and secondly all vaccinations are pre-booked to ensure stock availability for those booked appointments. If you wish to contact me directly I am sure we can get to the bottom of this issue.

Signposting patients to the pharmacy or other provider will become more the normal as it reduces wasted appointments and directs the patient to the best (and generally quickest) service appropriate to their needs. This goes for services that pharmacists offer and for other services including, physiotherapy, telephone counselling, local support services in the voluntary sector and other NHS services.

If you wish to contact me about the other issues you have highlighted I would be happy to take your call, please contact reception who will either put you through if I am available or take your details and I will call you back as soon as I am able.
