"Same day appointment system can be improved"

Having been a regular patient over 3 years in this surgery, I have been satisfied except for one aspect - the same day appointment system. I understand it is first come, first serve but I hope the practice notes that it is extremely tiring for someone who is very ill to walk twice to the surgery - once to take the appointment and the other to actually attend it. I have seen other surgeries where we can telephone in for a same day appointment and only have to go once to the surgery as a result. I believe small measures like this can make a great difference to students, especially as most of us live alone and do not have anyone to drive us to the surgery if we are feeling to weak to walk up.
