"No stars for prescriptions"

About: Yeadon Tarn Medical Practice

Surgery unable to pass prescriptions to pharmacy a few yards away. Says on website they can arrange for prescriptions to be sent to a pharmacy. When I asked for this to happen I was told they did not do this, the pharmacy did it. So I said the pharmacy would not know when we had ordered. The receptionist said I would have to phone the pharmacy every time.

The pharmacy (a few yards away in same building) said the receptionists do not tell them when there are prescriptions ready for processing for home delivery.

I think we will change to surgery that has electronic prescription service. Its a shame, but appears to be the only way round it.

We are really sorry you had a bad experience with this request. If your request was for a one off prescription, and you were going to have difficulty collecting from the practice, then reception should have actioned your request for you. Our sincerest apologies if this didn't happen and I will remind our Receptionists of this. If it was a repeat prescription, then it is unfortunately something that would need arranging between yourself and the Pharmacy and would need your agreement that the pharmacy were able to do this. Apologies if this wasn't explained to you fully at the time.

At present we don't use electronic prescribing as it doesn't support our approach to medication reviews. However we are hopeful that this issue will be resolved in the next upgrade of electronic prescribing.
