"Problems after problems"

About: Rawdon Surgery

I had a back injury as a child and after seeing my doctor at Rawdon surgery I was told to just 'don't do what hurts it and it will be ok'. I had to go private to have it treated but it had healed wrong and made the correct treatment more difficult. Now I have learned as a result of not originally being treated correctly it has caused me to walk so badly I needed surgery on my feet. It was so painful the long waiting list to see someone NHS made me have to pay privately. Today I had an appointment (which I made two weeks ago just in case) and was told when I arrived that it had been cancelled. I had to take take off work to go and they just said oopsie.

I am sorry that this was the experience you had at the practice. Normally when an appointment is cancelled at short notice, we try to contact the patient and leave a message to call the practice when there is no reply. We offer to re arrange the appointment on the same day with another clinician where appropriate, or for another day. If a patient does not receive the message and arrives for the appointment, the other doctors on duty are prepared to see them, and this alternative should have been offered to you. I am sorry that this didn't happen and has been addressed at a safety and quality meeting with the reception team. Should you wish to discuss this further please contact the Practice Manager
