I am writing this less than 48 hours after having a baby at Leicester General. All I can say is a huge thank you to every member of staff we came across....whether it was cleaner, receptionist, midwife or doctor-everyone was wonderful. Having visited the MAU several times due to blood pressure concerns leading up to the birth my husband and I kept commenting on how fantastic the staff were. Polite, genuinely interested and despite being so busy always made us feel like there was no rush.
I was then booked in to have an induction during an extremely busy time when the infirmary had closed their labour ward as they were so busy and therefore women needed to come to the general instead-so things were very difficult for the staff to manage....but manage they did....all with grace...humour and care. Whilst waiting to be induced I actually went into labour naturally and things went from very calm to very intense..very quickly. I was suddenly the person that needed emergency care and I feel I got the best care possible. The team were outstanding and could not have worked harder at what was honestly such a busy time for them all. Having had another baby over 3 years ago at another hospital in another part of the country (and the care there was great too but I had nothing to compare it to) I feel I can say that you would be hard pressed to find more caring staff than at the General. I know everyone has different and personal experiences, and everything feels more intense in situations like giving birth..but honestly...huge credit to everyone there-I feel lucky to have had my baby there!
"Fantastic uncompromising care at a very very..."
