What I liked
I have had an appointment with the Gynaecology department about a malformation of the womb. First appointment 3 years ago came down to: if you are not willing to take hormones, we cannot help you. Very patronising towards somebody who has tried and failed almost every hormone pill available. She did however promise to book a scan for me, all I had to do was wait for the letter.
Two years later, still no scan appointment, so back to the GP, who referred me again.
This time the appointment was with the head of the Gynae department, who again promised me a scan. They again were quite patronising about the malformation, saying it happens to loads of women who all have children quite happily.
Now, 5 months later, again, no letter, no appointment. What does it take to be taken serious here? Another miscarriage? Or shall I decide to throw my toys out of the pram and just not have children at all?
I have now started the process of going to a specialist abroad and have had more care, response and interest shown there than I have ever seen in England and the RBH. I am paying NI contributions, but will have to pay for treatment and research abroad out of my own pocket. This is not how the NHS should work, shame on you!
What could be improved
Taking a patient serious, don't look at them as numbers, but as human beings.
Deliver on promises and on time!
I have no hope that things will improve, merely wanted to express my desperation and disappointment with this system.
