Though surgery is never fun I can’t imagine having a better or more caring experience than I had at Frimley. Staff were brilliant, you can feel the place has a good attitude. From the surgeon to the porter, everything was done efficiently with respect and consideration. A benchmark for others to copy, as I have been in some truly awful hospitals in the past.
Ended up with an unexpected overnight stay and without asking food and overnight kit was delivered. Team was proactive on the ward and I was frequently asked if I was OK or needed anything. Sooo different to places where the staff sit in the nursing station and avoid eye contact in case it creates a job to do.
Well done. Incidentally I particularly noticed how well the staff handled a couple of ‘difficult’ patients. I suspect patients take their behavioural cues from the staff, so in most cases a friendly humane team produces friendly cooperative patients as well as a good atmosphere for all.
