"Birth experience"

About: Pinderfields General Hospital / Maternity care

(as the patient),

I cannot rate Pinderfields Labour ward enough for my experience. They were absolutely amazing. I had one midwife for the first 12 hours and then another for the remaining 12 hours and then different midwifes (by then I was so exhausted I didn't catch names) who were also amazing. So caring and compassionate, after a very long excruciating labour due to my body reacting badly to the induction drip, the midwife actually gave me a full bed bath, even held my arms up to wash me. At that point my dignity was at 0 but they were just so understanding. I honestly would go there again. The only downside was a senior members of staff came on shift just as I needed stitching. I asked  'when can I feed my baby? ' As I was going to breast feed. To which she snapped 'can we just do one thing at at time?"! I didn't mean it at all in a bad way... He was my first baby and I had no idea what was going on, I just was curious as to when he needed feeding. The midwifes apologied straight away for her actions in front of her whilst she was finishing my stitches.   She did come back and later on apologise herself   and said she wasn't well which was why she snapped like she did but I was horrified after going through 4 days of labour and no food or sleep and then having her doing such a personal task on me and speaking to me like that. Other than that they were all absolutely amazing, even down to the epidural team. Pain relief came quick, the midwifes never left my side. My second midwife was amazing whilst I was pushing she was so enthusiastic and really encouraged me along. I will definitely go there again if I'm ever blessed with another miracle baby ❤️
