"A member of staff who went the extra mile."

Just wanted to say how fantastic Rachel the physiotherapist at Barnsley hospital is. My son went for his appointment on his shoulder yesterday but has also been suffering with his ankle/foot over the last few weeks - he wakes up and is unable to bear weight on it. This has meant he's missed a couple of days off school as he's not able to walk until he's rested it.

Both times I've phoned the Drs they've told me to take him straight to A& E which I haven't done because as we all know A& E is for emergencies! Anyway I asked Rachel for a bit of advice on what to do and she spent an extra 20 minutes looking at his ankle, foot, leg & knee. She asked him loads of questions and had him doing lots of different exercises. Not only did she suggest he should be referred to podiatry as she's sure he has plantar fasciitis (swelling of the tissue that runs under the sole of your foot) she made the referral, got an appointment and is going to come to the appointment with us! She definitely went the extra mile and it's much appreciated. Thanks x
