After my operation it was clear they just wanted me out, even though I couldn't walk very well, and in a lot of pain. The ward also appeared only half full.
All the checks they did were matter of fact and no one really took time to talk to me just saying "Yes, you can go home now", and as I was still in a bit of a daze from general anesthetic etc I accepted what I was being told.
I endured a very painful journey home, and then had no idea about pain relief as a member of staff thrust pain killers in my hand and said "if you need them", well I had had back surgery less than 24 hours previous???
The only instructions I was given was to take off the dressing after 4 days, which I did and discovered more underneath which is obviously my stitches on a 4 inch cut, What do I do now??
I have received no follow up calls from them since, and have called twice for advice and no one has returned my calls.
My only option is my GP surgery who told me to pop in anytime to see the nurse.Thank god for the NHS.
All consultations and pre admission were superb. The hospital is immaculate and reception staff are very friendly and professional.
My operation went well, and theatre care was superb.
