I delivered our first baby this summer in Hull women and children's hospital.
Our baby was breech so we tried having her turned which failed. When my waters broke 5 days before our planned caesarean section, we dashed in overnight and had an emergency caesarean delivery in the early hours of the morning.
The labour ward staff were lovely, especially the anaesthetist who was reassuring and we were well cared for throughout. They were all calm despite it being unplanned and the middle of the night. I was cared for on maple ward for the next 4 days and again the midwives were very good and happy to help with my breastfeeding whenever I asked.
My only minor criticism is they tended to forget to give me the painkillers I was prescribed, but I'm not sure if I was meant to be asking for them if I needed them or not.
Overall, a very positive experience from a busy and large city maternity unit. I will book there again for future pregnancies.
