"Empowering Maternity Care"

About: Mid Argyll Community Hospital and Integrated Care / General Medicine

(as a service user),

I have had nothing but amazing experiences with all of my maternity care in Lochgilphead throughout all three of my pregnancies. I have had the pleasure of being cared for by almost all of the midwives, and they are just amazing.

My first pregnancy, we were lucky enough to attend hypnobirthing classes, which proved to be invaluable in helping us through our first birth at the local unit, where our care was just second to none, I felt like every detail of my labour was geared towards my wishes, and I was heard throughout. K. Milloy in particular made my pregnancy journey incredible, and both Brenda and K. McAlpine helped deliver my beautiful baby into the world.

My second pregnancy again was so special and I felt so supported in every decision I made, I was empowered enough to have a home birth this time and it was one of the best experiences of my life, the midwives Jennifer and Jan made this such a positive experience, they were fantastic.

My newest bundle of joy only joined us 5 days ago. This was my first encounter of having a named midwife, it was quite nice, although I was lucky in that I already knew most of the midwives. Brenda was my midwife this time and she was great, this was my most complicated pregnancy, and yet it still all felt positive as Brenda made sure I knew and felt that there were still many things I had control over. I was heading for a Paisley birth this time and had many more concerns which were quickly and confidently alleviated. I could not have hoped for better care.

The aftercare with all my babies could not be faulted either. The only thing that could be improved is local scanning.

This amazing team of ladies care about everything, they do an incredible job.

Dear Fyfe87

What an uplifting posting which I will be sure to share with the local team. I will also feed-back about your comment re local scanning.

Thank you for taking the time to feed-back especially as you have another wee one to look after now!

You may have seen that the local midwifes took part in the Channel 5 series the Highland Midwife which was very well received and we are about to embark on a second series.
