"On Sunday 5th September my mum was taken..."

About: Darent Valley Hospital

What I liked

On Sunday 5th September my mum was taken to A&E after being found collapsed at home. The ambulance staff were exceptional and the A&E nurses fantastic and very patient. The doctor that took her medical history was perhaps a little lacking in bedside manner and i found it quite bizarre that she found it necessary to carry her handbag around slung over her shoulder the whole time.

The only down side to my mums treatment was the fact that she was kept in the majors area till gone midnight (arrived at hospital at 11am) but she was very well cared for the whole time.

On Tuesday 7th September my grandson who is 2 1/2 was taken to A&E at just after midnight suffering from an asthma attack. All the staff were fantastic. The little one took nearly 3 hours to stabilise but was looked after with the utmost of care the whole time. After a night on Willow ward he made a good recovery and was soon home with his family.

Anything else?

I was rather amazed at one doctor in the majors room who whilst treating a patient in another cubicle came out of the cubicle, went over to the sink and sneezed and blew his nose and then didn't wash his hands before going back to the patient!!!!
