What I liked

I am on holiday and self-referred for bad abdominal pain. Arrived 0930 Tuesday, and left 36 hours later with an umbilical hernia having been operated upon. Excellent staff & conditions (but see below). Could private medicine have been any better? I doubt it.

The surgeon joked that I was in the most expensive hotel in Cornwall. Fortunately I had no huge bill as I and others like me have contributed through NHInsurance all my working life.

What could be improved

A&E and the Surgical Reception Unit are both badly let down with seriously dilapidated seating in the waiting areas. This undermines confidence and morale of the patient. How can these seats possibly be properly cleaned?

Anything else?

What a shame that such an excellent overall experience was given a very poor start by my being confronted with badly torn seats.
