"Recent heart scare"

About: Okehampton Medical Centre

As someone who had a stent fitted several years ago, there is always a nagging question in your mind whenever you happen to experience chest pain, no matter how mild. This happened to me recently and had been unusually prolonged so I went along to The Medical Centre, Okehampton - my local surgery - and asked for an appointment with my regular doctor. They were away but they offered an appointment with another partner asking first for an indication of why I wanted to see a doctor. On informing them of my chest pain the response was immediate and professional from the receptionist, the duty nurse who I saw moments later for an ECG, to the duty doctor who explained what was going to happen as a result of the tests taken. Within a few hours I was told to report to RD & E Exeter who were fully aware of my impending arrival. Although it turned out to be a scare, it might have been very different so, I cannot heap enough praise on the team at The Medical Centre for care, response, efficiency and professionalism. Absolutely first rate and the NHS at its best. Huge thanks.

Dear Mr Bullworthy

Thank you so much for your positive feedback; we often hear very quickly when patients are unhappy with the service we provide, and not always when we have done well; it is fantastic for the staff to receive the recognition that they deserve for the excellent work that they do. I am pleased that you are feeling better and it was not something more serious on this occasion.

Kind regards

Miss Kiran Bakhshi (Practice Manager)
