"Choose and book system - lost me my appointment"

About: Russells Hall Hospital / Ear, Nose and Throat

My g.p referred me to see the en.t. specialist during my appointment with her on the 13th June regarding a lump in my throat which is painful and has not moved with antibiotics.

Obviously i am really concerned.

Shortly afterwards i received an appointment through via the post for 04/09/2017 at 10 am.

The letter advised me i could go on line to choose and book to change the appointment if it was not convenient.

It was not convenient on that date as i was out of the country so i went on the choose and book and arranged a new appointment... or so i thought.

Because shortly after a letter came through with a new appointment which was exactly the same time and date.

I phoned the booking line to re arrange again, and they said they would send me another appointment though, again shortly afterwards i was sent a new appointment for the same date and time again 04/09/17 at 10 am.

I went on line again and thought there must be a fault with your system i will give it the benefit of the doubt and try again.

So i went through the process again on line and shortly afterwards i received a new appointment through for the same date and time?

Feeling concerned i phoned up the booking line again, before i went away week commencing the 21/08/17 .

I spoke to a helpful member of staff who said they would re-issue another appointment out to me. They said not to worry if i got further letters from them with the same date of the 04/09/17 as they are just system generated and it is all in hand.

Feeling re assured i left it at that.

After all its been at least five attempts on my behalf to change the appointment so surely everything would be ok?

I have given it a bit more time and not received any further appointments so decided today on my day off from work to phone the booking line, to make sure the appointment is all in hand, to be told that i have been took off the system because i did not attend the appointment.

Well how could i if it was on holiday and i had contacted you five times to try and sort a new appointment out well in advance.

I wanted to speak to a manager and complain but was told they only take bookings and i would need to speak to the hospital to complain?

It beggars belief that i have tried my up most best to change an appointment by your computer system and speaking to 2 call handlers, and now i have lost my appointment.

Not through any lack of trying on my behalf but because things were messed up your end.

As you can see we are four months on from my original referral and i am not feeling any better.

If there is anything seriously wrong with me God forbid, four months have already been wasted just trying to do something you would think would be relatively simple to re arrange an appointment.
