What I liked

The staff on the Gara ward were an absolute credit to the NHS and the QARANC. It was great to see civilian and military personnel working together in an utterly seamless manner. From the cleaner to the catering staff to the nurses and the Matron everybody was absolutely profession in all aspects and thoroughly caring. The food was of a very high standard compared to what I have experienced in other hospitals or institutions; my wife couldn't believe that we got tea/coffee and biscuits in between meals!

What could be improved

Parking at this hospital is a complete nightmare. There is a serious shortage of parking and some of the signs detailing the parking fees are out of date and quote lower rates than are actually in force.

In an ideal world the bedside cabinets would have a lock on to protect valuables. It's perfectly understandable that the hospital can't accept liability for valuables but a small locker would mean you could secure things like a watch whilst in theatre.
