"Thank you from the bottom of my heart"

About: Dr Gray's Hospital / Gastroenterology (Stomach and Gut) Dr Gray's Hospital / General Surgery Dr Gray's Hospital / High Dependancy Unit Dr Gray's Hospital / Surgical Assessment Unit

(as the patient),

I've had Crohns for years and been in and out of hospital. But the time had come for small bowel to be removed, I was so happy to be getting my life back and thanks to my surgeon Dr Perecath it went fantastically for me. But not so easy for him and his team.

I recovered in a week and staff who looked after me from the recovery room at ward 8 HDU are amazing - thank you. A massive thank you to nurse Joanna and her day and night shift staff. And also to the amazing Auxiliary nurse young Katie who was fab with me, showed me how to get used to my stoma  and helped me change when I was to nervous too. Thanks also to stoma nurse Jenny for keeping me informed as to what to expect. I say a big thank you xxx

A week after I had to return as stoma bag wasn't sticking and more problems. I was very well looked after in ward 6 just where there was a bed, fantastic staff there too thank you x

On my return again I was blue lighted in with back pain and found out I had pleurisy so was another 2 week stay again in ward 5 and yet again fantastic staff  and so well looked after and again I thank you xx

After a few days out  I was taken back in a further 3 times with dehydration but this time I had to have a special low residue diet. The nurses on ward 6 again were so helpful and so very supportive. As you can imagine being out and in all this time not really feeling better, the food wasn't the best as I couldn't eat it, but yet again nurses being supportive went and let me talk to a lovely lady from the kitchen and personally saw that I had the food I needed to help me get better. I was just so thankful and I just feel all the doctors and nurses are worked so hard in this hospital as it's short of doctors and nurses but they still do an amazing job. I would like to thank from the bottom of my heart. Every nurse, doctor, auxiliary  and even cleaner (they cheer you up xx ) a Massive thank you for looking after me xxx

Dear Laughing lady

I'm delighted to read you enjoyed such positive experiences during your recent admissions to various ward within Dr Grays

The care you received was truly person centred and this is what we strive for from the whole team from kitchen staff to domestics on the ward and all the way through to the Nursing Staff and Consultant on the wards.

I will copy your letter to the different teams who saw you during your stays and on their behalf I would like to thank you for the kind words you have written.

I hope you are continuing to improve now that you are home.
