"Ill for 10 months"

About: Eastbourne District General Hospital

Met with a locum consultant after waiting a very long time. i've had upper right sided stomach pain since January, nausea 24/7 since March, upper back pain, lost eight stone and feel awful! The consultant did not listen and i can tell you now that i'm 100% certain this is a gallbladder problem as all my symptoms suggest. I was given a CT scan of my chest, abdo and pelvis and that seems to be the end! Yes i probably don't have cancer as the scan was normal but i feel so bad i can't go to work! I had an ultrasound of my gallbladder at my doctors surgery which showed no stones which with this and the CT scan the consultant has taken this as 100% conclusive it's not my gallbladder! CT scans and ultrasounds are not 100% accurate they are far from it and even if they were they can't rule out a gallbladder that does not function properly!

I feel so ill with all these classic gallbladder symptoms so can somebody tell me what to do?! You need to come up with more than this!

Dear John

We're concerned to read about your experience with Gastrointestinal and Liver services at Eastbourne DGH, and we sincerely empathise that your condition, and lack of diagnosis, is causing you much distress.

In order to look at your options, you may find it helpful to contact our Patient Advice & Liaison Service (PALS).

PALS are a confidential service who will listen to your concerns and offer informal advice. They can also liaise with trust staff on your behalf to answer any outstanding questions you have.

If you would like to do this, PALS can be contacted on 01323 435886 or by email at: esh-tr.PALSE@nhs.net.

Alternatively, a further appointment with your General Practitioner, to discuss your health situation, might be helpful.
