I am writing on behalf of my brother, who was taken by ambulance from his care home to A&E at Barnet on Sunday 24 September. He had a serious UTI and was extremely confused.
It took over five hours until he was seen by a doctor, and during that period he was lying in a bay on a blood-stained sheet with a blood-stained blanket over him. The floor of the cubicle was extremely dirty. After a few days in Cedar Ward, he was moved to a single room, due to the fact that he had MRSA in his nose. At no point was he offered a pressure relieving mattress, so on discharge on 4 October he had a grade two pressure sore.
It is now 7 October and he is waiting for an ambulance to take him to be readmitted. Although the UTI had cleared, owing to the intravenous antibiotics, he is now passing a large amount of blood in his catheter.
