I visited my GP as I was struggling with feeling really nervous and I couldn't cope with daily life; they said I could either go to Lets talk or take medication for my problem so I chose Lets Talk where I was assessed and referred for CBT. At that point I was glad I was getting help because my anxiety was taking over me.
During my initial CBT session with Emma I was really nervous and I didn't want to be there, I was shaky and worried about how much I'd have to talk because I was really scared of talking. At the beginning I thought that it wasn't going to help, and the session passed in a blur. In the first few weeks I thought that I wasn't getting anywhere, that it wasn't helping, but once I got so many sessions into it I actually noticed there was some changes in how I was thinking. I started to feel a lot more comfortable with myself and I found it easier to start to push myself. I'd never heard of social anxiety before I came but just finding out what it was helped me to understand what I was going through.
Now I am starting to enjoy my life, I can do the things I never thought I would. I am able to start conversations off with people, have a laugh with everybody, and make new relationships. I even have a new tattoo which symbolises 'Heading towards to the Future!'
