"Really excellent"

About: Greater Manchester Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust / Adult mental health

(as the patient),

I have a long term mental health condition of anxiety and depression and ove rthe past two years this has become more difficult leading up in the last two months to two suicide attempts. I have been experiencing stress at home , with friends and at work. I have been feeling a great deal of psychic pain sometimes almost unbearable and riven to suicide.

I asked for help and was put under the care of central psychiatry home treatment team. They have been really excellent and kept supporting me throughout extreme pain and loneliness. I have also had the support of primary care complex psychology.

I am sixty years old now and this has been the most stressful period of my life and it has been hard just staying alive, but there is hope that I can get my life back.

Dear Murrayjon,

Firstly thank you for taking the time to share a bit about you. It sounds like you went through a really tough time and that your anxiety and depression affected everything in your life. I am so pleased you took the first step and asked for help and are now being looked after by a great team.

Please accept my sincere apologies for the delay in replying to your posting, which was due to an error with our notifications from Care Opinion being picked up. Please be reassured that we are reviewing our account shortly to ensure this doesn’t happen in the future.

Thanks for your feedback about our central psychiatry home treatment team and primary care complex psychology service. It’s fantastic to hear how supported you have felt by staff, and that this has given you the confidence to feel positive about your future.

It is always great to hear from patients how beneficial they feel the treatment is and that it has had such a positive impact. I shall make sure I pass this on to the staff involved.

I also hope that your positive story will help others who may be in a similar situation to see that although recovery isn’t always quick or easy – there is help there and it’s worth the hard work.

We wish you all the very best in your ongoing recovery.

Take care.
