What could be improved

Doctors and nurses communicating with each other.

Elderly people shown the respect they deserve!

Problems and concerns should be dealt with when the patients family/friends request it, instead of having to put an official complaint in to get things done.

Medication that needs to be given should be given at all times and not just say it has been when a few days later it is admitted that it hasn't been.

Listen to a patient express there concerns over medication etc instead of just nurse/doctors thinking they know better!

My nan went into A&E with a broken hip. She has been in Winchester for a few weeks and in that time she has gone downhill quite dramatically. She is 89 and may get confused occasionally but has had nurses shouting at her instead of talking to her like usual (she is not deaf!)

She expressed concerns over medication but was blatantly made to feel like she was getting confused and didn't know what she was talking about but then a few days later they realised they had done it wrong, yet she was given no apology.

She has been left in her own mess with the window curtains shut all day, not been given food even what the nurses believe she has had some, relatives where there at the time and find there is no food for her. She was nil-by-mouth for 3 days waiting for her hip operation that she quickly became so fragile and week that she struggled to sit up and feed herself, yet the food (when she got it) was just left there for her, and went cold.

Thank god she is being moved to Andover soon for her rehabilitation after her horrendous ordeal!!

Frankly Winchester hospital is a disgrace! An elderly person, possibly, in the last few years of their life should never be treated like this. Every week I have visited her she has got thinner and smaller, more frail, and clearly feeling very down about everything!

My nan deserved more respect from nurses and doctors in Winchester and my whole family has just found it to be disgusting and horrendous!
