"Following a fall at home I was bought by..."

What I liked

Following a fall at home I was bought by ambulance to A&E at the PRH on Tuesday 31 August at about 6.30pm. The department was extremely busy that evening and I did not leave until nearly midnight. As a former Nurse (I no longer work due to being disabled with arthritis) I wanted to write and commend the staff that were on duty that evening particularly Unit Management who telephoned other Drs in the hospital and asked them to come and help in A&E as the patients were there in excess of NHS guidelines.

All the members of staff were busy carrying out their duties at all times (I was in a bay opposite the Nurses Station for several hours) and only sat down to use the Computer terminal. Although they were very busy I received assistance immediately on asking for it ie to check my wound and access a toilet.

What could be improved

There was only one Doctor and seventeen patients, so more Medical Staff. As I said before the Unit Manager did try very hard to encourage other Drs in the hospital to come and help out.
