"Couldn't of asked for better care"

About: Queen Elizabeth University Hospital Glasgow / Accident & Emergency

(as a parent/guardian),

I took my daughter over to A& E last night and as I thought the department was busy within no time my daughter was seen by a nurse assessed then asked to return to the waiting room until she could receive treatment. After roughly 1 hour we were seen and treated and heading home. All the nurses were pleasant and cheerful despite a waiting room full of patients. My daughter is only 17 and this was her 1st visit to this department she was made feel at ease as she was treated and the nurse (Karen) SCN who was applying her dressing explained everything she was doing to both myself and my daughter which has enabled me to change her dressing at home confidently. My daughter was very nervous at the prospect of visiting as was I but we left feeling relief that she had been looked after so well. I have nothing but praise for the nurses who looked after us last night we couldn't of asked for better care.

The only thing that could have been better about the situation is if we had the choice to visit a minor injuries unit nearer to us.

Dear Anxious Mum

Many thanks for taking the time to post on Care Opinion.

I am sorry to hear that your daughter had to visit A&E. However, I am pleased to read about the level of care that your daughter received in our Emergency Department at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital. I am glad that the staff helped put your daughter at ease and that you both left feeling that she had been well looked after.

I am sorry that you were unable to visit a Minor Injuries Unit closer to your home.

I will make sure your post is shared with the staff in A&E, they will be delighted to receive your feedback.

Please pass on my best wishes to your daughter.

Kind Regards

Nicole
