Consultants who treat you as a person

Anything else?

I visited the gyne out patients dept last year, believe it to be June 2009 for an ongoing gyne issue. On my last visit I came away from that appointment feeling that I was making everything up. The consultant I saw was quite rude, suggested there was nothing wrong with me and that I had to either go to pain management or a bowel surgen. I never wanted to see that person again. However the upshot being that my GP at the time suggested a second opinion, which I duly had at the James Paget in November 2009. I underwent a hysterectomy in April 2010 and this has been a complete success, no more pain and now can get back to normal. I know the consultant was a locum and hopefully they have now left. I have never been so dismayed by one persons attitude and felt under pressure in that consultantion as there was a nurse, house officer, consultant and me and felt that I had no choice and ended up almost walking out of my appointment. I hope you do read this website and know exactly what is happening within these appointments, I am a person not just a name and deserve to be treated in an acceptable manner. I had put up with the problem for nearly seven years and it took a great deal of courage to go to my GP in the first instance, waiting nearly three years before I did that
