"Was operated on for a hernia repair"

About: Derriford Hospital / General surgery

Had a hernia repair, staff were amazing sent home witn tablets and dressings.

The wound was clean and tidy, no problems.

Then 10 days after surgery had some discomfert and the wound was becoming swollen and red, i knew i had an infection, went to A+E, they were very good and i was sent up to Hound ward 7th floor, thats when the service went down hill, 11.00 i was seen by a lovely doctor who examined me, 10 min. Later they came back i had to have a ultasoud scan for the following morning. iwas told at 11.30 more tablets would subsribed for me. I had to wait till 4.30 before i could go home.

Following day had my ultrasound scan ( they didn't know i was coming but seen me anyway ) sent me back to the ward, were an hour later seen the doctor , who said i should come in on Thursday to see if the wound swelling had gone down if not, i could be taken back in for moe surgery.

More pills to go home with which i had to wait 2 hours only to find i had the wrong pills, so i had to wait another 2 hours ( the pills had arrived but forgotten about )so I'm back on Thursday to see the consultant.

My opinion surgery was ace 5 stars. But I'm afraid the after care needs some work, i feel there is no tie ups with the staff, saying that i dont blame the staff i think it goes deeper an that.
