"Avoid if you wanted to be treated like a human..."

About: Hertford County Hospital

Absolutely awful. 3000 characters isn't enough to write about everything they've put me & my family through so these are just a few things that come to mind. Twice I turned up to appointments only to be told they had been cancelled but no one had bothered to let me know. No apology. Had an appointment in one clinic but when I turned up they had moved clinics and yet again not bothered to let me know. Receptionist downstairs about as useful as a chocolate kettle - Had absolutely no idea what was going on and didn't even know the clinic had changed. Recepionist upstairs was just rude, no customer service skills whatsoever and absolutely no manners! Both receptionists told me 2 completely different things, contradicting each other. No one in the hospital has any idea what's going on. Took my 2 year old to see a doctor about his eyes and the doctor couldn't be any less caring or emphathetic if they tried. The doctor was unorganised - Couldn't find half the stuff they needed, and acted like the doctor really didn't want to be there and didn't have time for us. But worst of all the doctor was extremely rough with my boy - grabbed him, pinned him down forcefully, basically treated my baby like a ragdoll. My boy was hyserical for a long time afterwards, even to this day (a year later) I don't think I've seen him cry that much, and after seeing him being treated so badly I left in tears too and never wanted to go back again. Only good experience I've had was when I went for a blood tests. Those nurses were lovely. Apart from that it's an absolute shambles, especially the receptionists. The rudest, most incompetent you will ever meet. They honestly have no respect, no manners and no people skills.

Just had the displeasure of speaking to one of them on the phone. In the past I was told to phone a certain number if I needed to cancel an appointment, but when I phoned the number the receptionist was rude from start to finish. Moody, sarcastic, awful tone, giving blunt one word answers and basically had a go at me for phoning on the number I was told to call! Telling me "Well that's news to me" as if I had made it up. If staff give out wrong information do not blame the patients. Maybe train your staff better so they give out correct info instead. Ended up hanging up before I'd even managed to cancel my appointment because I got sick of the way I was being spoken to. There is absolutely no need to be so rude and nasty to patients who are only trying to do the right thing and cancel an appointment! Funny thing is I sent a complaint to the hospital about a year ago due to the rude receptionists and was told they would under go training as the way I was treated was inexcuseable (their words), but going by the phone call I had this morning I'm guessing that was yet another load of lies they gave me to fob me off. Unless you're just having a blood test I would avoid this hospital at all costs!!!
