What I liked
The care and kindness shown to my Mother (Mrs Irene Tordoff aged 90) who was suffering from perforation of the upper bowel. The doctor was sensitively honest from the very beginning and my Mother understood and calmly accepted what he said. He took the time to take us into a private room with a nurse present, to make sure we fully understood our options and the future care. All of the nursing and medical staff were so caring and thoughtful I do not know how to express it. I can remember the staff on the Surgical Assessment Unit, the staff on Ward 16 and a sister who was not only kind and considerate she was so skilled at what she does, my Mother barely noticed that she been 'attended to'. Also, the nurse who stroked her hair and reassured her, and those who were on night duty and ever helpful and friendly. As a family we liked everything about HRI and want to thank you but these words seem inadequate. Our Mother died on Saturday August 28th but all of us, including our Mother, were prepared and ready. We very much liked that we could visit 24/7 because this meant our Mother was never left alone as this was something she dreaded.
What could be improved
Nothing.
